Aging is inevitable and it is something that will come to all of us. However, no one wants the aging process to begin prematurely. Your face will show the signs of aging before anywhere else on your body and, unless you go under the knife, the only way to prevent getting old before your time is to alter your way of life.

    Diet

It’s not just external factors that affect your skin, and therefore your appearance; the things that you put into your body have a massive impact.

In order to maintain your youthful looks for as long as possible fruit and vegetables should make up a substantial part of your diet. Including fruits and vegetables of all different colours is essential in order to make sure your body is receiving all of the essential vitamins and minerals it needs.

    Sun

Sun exposure is one of the main causes of fine lines and wrinkles. The sun’s UVA and UVB rays are extremely harmful and although it’s not an overnight process, they not only damage the top layer of skin but also the structure of the skin beneath the surface.

In order to prevent your skin becoming damaged when out in the sun it’s essential to apply sunscreen before leaving the house. If you’re out for long periods of time then you should reapply protection throughout the day. Make sure you’re wearing cream that has at least SPF 15. This is the minimum amount of protection you need, ideally you should wear factor 30 and above.

    Smoking

Smoking is another lifestyle choice that encourages the start of the aging process. Smoking causes the capillaries in your skin to become even smaller which means that your skin isn’t receiving the blood that it needs to stay plump and healthy.

The only solution here is to give up smoking. Although it’s difficult there are a huge number of health benefits that come with it.

    Surgery

If your skin has already gone too far or you just can’t bear the thought of eating healthily, giving up smoking and avoiding the beach without sunscreen, then surgery is an option. There’s a whole host of facial surgery that’s available to help you regain your youthful appearance.
